Da questa felice intuizione ad opera degli artisti americani Edward M. Plunkett e Ray Johnson, che ha dato vita al circuito internazionale piu’ frequentato della storia dell’arte (la MAIL ART), sono trascorsi cinquant’anni. Rapporti, scambi, incontri, interventi, progetti ecc. si sono avvicendati, sempre in un clima di partecipazione attiva e continua, con il superamento di qualsiasi barriera politica e ideologica. Questa “danza” di corrispondenza artistica ha coinvolto e tuttora coinvolge tutte le Nazioni del mondo, che sono ora invitate a celebrare insieme questo importante anniversario, inviando un proprio segno di rinnovata adesione, affetto e riconoscimento ad una “Scuola” che è stata in grado di unire artisti di tutto il Pianeta in una sorta di “racconto artistico collettivo” a testimonianza di un fare arte all’insegna della condivisione, del dono, dell’assoluta libertà.

From this lucky intuition of the american artists Edward M. Plunkett and Ray Johnson, that gave life to the international network more frequented of the art history (the MAIL ART), fifty years passed.

Relations, exchanges, meetings, interventions, projects etc. are alternate always in a climate of active and continuous participation, overcoming any political and ideological barrier.

This “dance” of artistic correspondence involved and still involves all the Nations. Now, these

are invited to celebrate together this important anniversary, sending a sign of renewed adherence, love and gratitude to a “School” that had been in position to join artists of all the world, in a kind of “artistic collective story”, testimony of “to make art” through the sharing, the gift and the absolute freedom.

L’esposizione avrà luogo a Castel S.Pietro Terme-BO-Italy (ed anche in altri spazi), dove già si sono svolte con successo le mostre dedicate al 30° della Mail Art (1992), con la partecipazione di 250 artisti e di Ray Johnson stesso ancora vivente, e al 40° (2002) con la partecipazione di 370 artisti di 38 Nazioni.

The exhibition will have place in Castel S.Pietro Terme-BO-Italy (and also in other spaces).

where already happened with success the exhibitions dedicated to the thirtieth of Mail Art (1962), with the participation of Ray Johnson and other 250 networkers , and to the fortieth (2002) with the participation of 370 artists of 38 Nations.
